An elusive and special opportunity awaits three lucky McDonald’s customers this month: free McDonald’s for as long as they live.

Stretching from December 5 until December 25, US-based consumers will have the chance to score an elusive, metallic, legendary McGold Card, for free McD’s for life, for them as well as three friends. The campaign also includes daily deals on go-to menu items and two merch drops.

To enter in the sweepstakes, customers must either purchase one McDonald’s item in the app or apply without purchasing anything at mcdonaldsforlifesweeps.com.

The McGold Card is part of McDonald’s ‘SZN of sharing,’ a first-of-its kind holiday campaign exclusive to the McDonald’s app. The brand hinted towards the card’s impending launch last week in a mysterious Instagram post that beckoned fans to text a phone number for more details.

Evidently, fans are “lovin’ it,“ even if it seems too good to be true. “McDonald’s totally got hacked,” one stupefied Instagram user commented. “Ain’t no way.”

“Our fans have been fascinated by the lore of the McGold Card and if it really exists. And now, we’ll make this McDonald’s legend a reality for our fans by giving them the ultimate holiday gift – a chance to win a card and then share access to it with three of their family or friends,” McDonald’s USA chief marketing and customer experience officer Tariq Hassan said in a statement. “Just by using the McDonald’s App, everyone can experience the joy that comes with sharing McDonald’s this holiday season.”

The campaign’s creative was ideated and developed by Wieden+Kennedy New York.
